Discover valuable insights on enhancing your scholarship applications as two of our board members share expert tips with Ivy Tech students.

"Some advice I have for future college students is that if you are unsure of what you want to study, start off by completing your gen ed courses, that way you can still go ahead with your studies and those courses can be applied to any major once you decide. Also, invest time in volunteering or join an organization or two around your campus, it is a great way to network and the friends you make will help you survive your college years."

“My biggest advice for future college students is to not be afraid to ask. I am the first person in my family to attend college. I did not know anything about how to get into college nor how the system works. I had to ask a lot of people like my guidance counselors, teachers, and other colleagues in order to make it. If you don’t know something, ask! If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.”

"Some advice I would give is, do not give up. I had to take a semester off because of going to obtain my residency. I also had to repeat a semester because I just missed the cut off grade to pass. Nevertheless, the key is to stay motivated and remember why you’re going through all the hassle that college is! If you ever feel stuck, reach out for help. You are never alone, if you need somewhere to start, you can always contact me!"
