HLCNI Scholarship Recipient Selection Process

HLCNI has partnered with Questa Foundation to ensure an ethical and credible review process of the HLCNI scholarship applications. The process begins by inviting third party community members who participate as scholarship reviewers within the process. 

Each reviewer is given a list of scholarship applications. Each application is listed by ID number without a visible name. Specific guidelines are provided to each reviewer for proper scoring of applicant responses. Student scholarship responses are then reviewed and scored by more than one community member so that each application receives an average of at least three reviewers’ scores. 

Once all reviewers have submitted their scores, the Questa Foundation sorts scholarship applications from top to least, and the list is submitted to HLCNI. The HLCNI Scholarship Committee takes the top ten students, to be chosen as scholarship recipients. If, however, one of the scholarship recipients no longer needs the scholarship or declines the funds, the next top scoring applicant is moved up, and the new scholarship applicant is selected.
